Do you want to download a TikTok video? It should be easy – you copy the link, paste it in a downloader, and hit save. Unfortunately, it’s not always that smooth. Maybe it gives an “Invalid link” error, maybe the download button does nothing, or your file ends up silent. You’re not alone. iPhone folks get stuck with Safari not working properly, while Android users get “Storage full” pop-ups, and PC users can’t find the video anywhere.
This guide’s here to help you out, no matter what device you’re using. If you have a TikTok video link and a modern browser, you’re good.
Even though some users come across errors, the downloading process is quite user-friendly and intuitive.
Open TikTok, find the “Share” arrow next to the video, and hit “Copy link.”
💡 Pro tip: On desktop, just grab the URL from your browser bar.
Navigate to the Dumtok downloader site. Safari, Chrome, Edge, and other browsers are all fine.
💡 Pro tip: Always check your device’s storage before downloading large HD files, especially on iPhone and Android, where free space is limited.
Paste the link to the TikTok video or stream from your clipboard into the input field.
💡 Pro tip: Make sure you have no extra space in front of or at the end, and the link has no missing characters.
If you pick MP4, you will get a video. The MP3 format will give you just the sound. The video and audio will match the quality of the original video.
💡 Pro tip: If the original TikTok has a low-quality video, you should not expect it to improve when saving the file.
Press/tap the “Download” button, and the file will start downloading to your device.
💡 Pro tip: On your phone, you’ll probably get a permission pop-up. Tap “Allow.”
By default, the files go to the Downloads folder on your device.
💡 Pro tip: If the download is missing, make sure it has downloaded completely, and your internet connection is strong enough.
The standard video format is MP4. It just works and plays everywhere. HD quality looks way better, but only if the original video is in high resolution.
All TikToks aren’t actually 4K, even if the creator uploaded a 4K video. This is because the platform squeezes the files.
If you use Dumtok, your video file will come without a watermark, so you can watch it without distractions. It is also useful for creators who own the video and want to use it for further remixes, edits, and so on.
The audio-only option gives you an MP3 file, which is also quite versatile.
Safari stores downloads in the browser’s Downloads section. You can move them to Files or Photos if you actually want to find them later.
If you want to see the file right in your Gallery, you can try tapping your downloaded file, then “Save Video.”
Chrome/Firefox on iOS typically do not have security popups that show up when using Safari.
Most browsers redirect files to Downloads. If nothing pops up in your Photos, move the file from Downloads to DCIM or Movies.
Android will ask you to “Allow” the download.
Typically, the files end up in the Downloads folder, unless you made another folder your default.
Windows allows you to locate the file by selecting “Show in folder” in the browser.
On Mac, it is possible to drag and drop that video into QuickTime, iMovie, or wherever you want.
Why does the downloader say “Invalid link”?
Make sure you have copied the full link and not just the first half of it. There should be no extra spaces in the input field as well.
Why can’t I download this video in my country?
TikTok sometimes only lets certain places see certain stuff. If the creator locked it down or TikTok decided it’s not for your region, the downloader can’t break through. You can try a VPN to switch up your location.
What can I do if the video’s private or deleted?
Unfortunately, there is not much you can do. You can send a request to the creator and ask for the file and/or permission to download it.
Where is the sound?
TikTok mutes videos with copyrighted music in some countries. If you grab a video that’s already muted, the download is muted too. Always check in the app first—if there’s no sound there, there won’t be any after you download.
Why does Safari not save the video?
First, triple-check that downloads are actually turned on (Settings > Safari > Downloads). If this does not help, switch to Chrome or Firefox.
Why won’t the file open on my phone?
Usually, it’s a codec thing. Your phone’s media player might be outdated or may not support MP3/MP4. Update or get a new player.
Dumtok is not affiliated with or supported by TikTok. All videos belong to their creators. You should only download content you’ve got rights to – you are the creator or using them under “Fair Use.”
Paste your TikTok URL and grab your favorite videos in MP4 or MP3, watermark-free.
